Overview:
São Miguel Island is the largest of the nine islands that make up the Azores archipelago. Located almost 900 miles off the coast of Portugal, the islands have often been referred to as ‘the Hawaii of the Atlantic’.
They remain largely hidden from mass tourism and are unspoilt leaving nature to be the biggest attraction for visitors. There’s an awful lot to see and do on São Miguel and more than enough for just one holiday. Here’s my ultimate guide to visiting the island complete with suggested itineraries.
