Lucerne is one of the most popular vacation destinations in Switzerland. Besides glorious mountain excursions to Pilatus, Rigi and Titlis, Lucerne is an incredible old Swiss city with a rich history. Being approximately one hour by train from both Zurich and Basel, it is so easy to visit as a day trip from either city.
The best way to explore Lucerne in just one day is with a self-guided walking tour. Explore the markets, the magnificent churches and, of course, Kapellbrücke (Chapel Bridge). You’ll even have time to walk along the city ramparts, visit the majestic Lion Monument and visit a few local museums. It will be an unforgettable day for your entire family!
