Overview:
The small city of Pharping is located just an hour outside of Kathmandu. This city is full of interesting stories and things to do. It’s famous for being holy in both Buddhism and Hinduism. It’s said to be the birthplace of Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal when Guru Rinpoche meditated in a cave and ended a drought.
The area is filled with monasteries and a giant statue of Guru Rinpoche. Pharping is also home to one of the largest temples for the goddess Kali, making it a popular place for Hindu’s to worship. Besides religion, the city has beautiful hiking trails with views of the Himalaya Range!
