Portopalo di Capo Passero is a traditional old fishing village that really makes you feel as though you are travelling back into time, to an ancient and unforgettable world that you can admire only in Sicily.
This post is from Rosalba and her blog Sicily on web. Rosalba is a native to Sicily and has a passion for the island that shines in her words.
In this post she talks about visiting Portopalo di Capo Passero, where you can see the old Tonnara and the “scieri”, namely the boats used by fishermen to fish tuna.
Nearby, you can also find untouched and charming beaches and the mesmerising sight of the island of Capo Passero and the Isola delle Correnti. This island is regarded as one of the most beautiful tourist attractions of Portopalo di Capo Passero and the entire Sicily.
But, be warned, there are no buses and cars to take you here from Portopalo.
In Rosalba’s own words: “Due to the sandy beach, you must walk barefoot to move to Portopalo. Hence, you must come here only to forget the outside world, to read a good book and play the guitar until the sunset.”
