Sri Mariamman Temple, with its fabulously animated gopuram covered in kitsch plasterwork, the ornate detailing of the sculptures gracing the inner compound and the colourful domes of the shrines is a true taste of Tamil traditions and a rare glimpse into the impressive Dravidian architecture. It is not only the oldest Hindu temple in Singapore but it remains a cultural and religious focal point for the Tamil community in the area.
