Home to the Harmandir Sahib, otherwise known as the Golden Temple and the holiest religious site of the Sikh religion, Amritsar is a wonderful city to spend some time in. Whether you are a religious believer or not, basing yourself here for a few days has so much to offer.
The city is in north-west India, close to the Pakistan border where the impressive Wagah border ceremony takes place every day (I have a separate post on that too if you’re interested), but what should you do during your visit to Amritsar?
Planning a visit to Amritsar
This is a new post from regular Travel Blogs contributer Bhavneet, from his blog Blogmyspace. Although not technically just a travel blog, his guides are always well thought out, extensive and really helpful for anyone planning a trip to the region. In this one, he tells us about his visit to Amritsar as well as detailed information about getting around. A perfect two day wrap up. Here’s what Bhavneet has to say:
“An exhaustive travel guide/ travel blog on Amritsar focussing on how to travel in the holy city on a budgat and some of the best places to visit in Amritsar such as The Golden Temple, Partition Museum, Jallianwala Bagh, Gobindfarh Fort, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Museum and Mata Lal Devi Temple.”
