I’ll be honest and confess that I hadn’t heard of Gauja National Park until I came across this blog while searching for content in Latvia but now have it as a place I want to visit. The region is a perfect idea for a day trip out of Riga, the capital of Latvia, and boast wonderful hiking, castles, nature and even a cable car. To visit the Gauja National Park, you must head to Sigluda, which can be reached easily and cheaply by train.
A little more of Latvia
If you would like to know more about the region, get a flavour of what to expect and excellent instructions on how to get there be sure to check out this blog from arwtravels. In it Alberto recounts his visit and shares advice alongside some wonderful photos of snowy scenes, he visited in the midst of Winter.
I think Latvia is a real up and coming destination. In the next few years, more and more travellers will be discovering the beauty of the country meaning now is a fantastic time to visit.
