Merida is a city steeped in culture from years of heavy Mayan, Spanish, French, British and Dutch influences and it a fantastic place to visit in Mexico.
This post, about things to do when visiting Merida, comes from Faith Coates and her blog XYU & Beyond. It is a great intro to the Mexican city and covers everything from what to see and do where to eat as well as great photos of the Mexican city. I’ll let Faith explain a little more:
“Merida has been called the safest city in Mexico and while that is very true it is also a beautiful colonial style city to visit.
Merida Centro has it all from the outstanding Lucas Galvez market to the Catedral de San Ildefonso in the Plaza Grande.
Check out the Bicicleta Ruta on Sunday mornings when they close down the Paseo Montejo and all of Merida comes out to ride bicycles or skateboard down the Paseo which is known as the Champs Elysee of Mexico.
These are the top 14 things to do in Merida and they won’t cost you more than a buck or two.”
